How to list subitems, updates and connected items in a Word template
PDF Docs, Invoices + eSignatures · Updated
Short answer
Put a start marker and an end marker around what repeats. For subitems, make a two-column-or-more Word table row starting with {{#subitems}} and ending with {{/subitems}}, and use {{s_Column name}} inside. Updates use {{#updates}}…{{/updates}}; a Connect boards column uses its own name as the marker.
Subitems
| Item | Qty | Price |
| {{#subitems}}{{s_Name}} | {{s_Qty}} | {{s_Unit Price}}{{/subitems}} |- Write
subitemsin small letters. - Use a table with at least two columns.
- Other fields, like
{{Item.Name}}, still work inside the row.
Updates
{{#updates}}{{date}}, {{user}}: {{text}}{{/updates}}Connected items
{{#Contacts}}{{c_Name}}, {{c_Email}}{{/Contacts}}Note: Leave symbols out of the marker: "Client (CRM)" becomes {{#Client CRM}}…{{/Client CRM}}. A list cannot go inside another list.
Images, QR codes and optional text
| To show | Type this |
|---|---|
| The first image in a Files column | {{Item.Files}} |
| A QR code | {{QR.Website}}, or {{qr.s_Link}} inside a list |
| Text only when a column has a value | {{#Item.Notes}}Notes: {{Item.Notes}}{{/Item.Notes}} |
Tip: Let the app build the table: My templates, New template, Table for a Word file, then Copy for Word.
