Folders are made the moment an item is created or moved to the board, and each new subitem can get a folder inside its item’s. The link is saved on the item.

Files from a Files column go to the item’s folder at the push of a button, or when a column you choose changes.

Rename the item and its Drive folder is renamed too, so links and folders never drift apart.
