PDF Docs vs GetSign: documents and eSignatures in monday.com

By Arnav Ghatage, founder of Fortimus · Updated

Short answer

Both apps generate documents from monday.com items and collect signatures from people without a monday.com account. GetSign counts signatures separately (15 on its free plan up to 900 on Enterprise) and adds an in-app document editor, fillable form fields, OTP and Stripe payments on higher plans. PDF Docs has no separate signature allowance, sends from your own Gmail and saves to Google Drive.

GetSign, by Jetpack Apps, is one of the best-known signing apps on monday.com, with more than 7,000 installs by its own count. PDF Docs is a newer, simpler app from Fortimus. If you are choosing between them, the questions that matter are how you build templates, how many signatures you send and which extras you actually need.

Full disclosure: we build one of these apps. We have kept this fair and we say where GetSign is the better fit.

Building templates

GetSign has a drag-and-drop DOCX editor inside monday.com, which is handy if nobody on your team wants to touch Word. PDF Docs takes the other route: you write the document in Word, the tool you already use, and paste fields such as {{Item.Client}} from a list the app builds for your board. Lists work too: a row per subitem, the item's updates or connected items. If you have a PDF form or letterhead instead, upload it and drag your columns onto the page.

For quick wins there are five ready-made documents in PDF Docs that need no template at all. See the ready-made documents.

Signatures and limits

Both apps send each signer a link by email, let them sign in the browser without an account, and keep a record of who signed and when.

The main practical difference is counting. GetSign plans include a set number of signatures (15 free, then 40, 200 and 900 on paid plans, according to its website) on top of the document limit. PDF Docs counts documents only, and a signature request sent from the app is not a document, so busy sales or HR teams do not need to watch a second number.

GetSign goes further on signer extras: fillable form fields, document expiry, OTP verification and Stripe payment collection, the last two on its Enterprise plan. If you need a client to fill in fields or pay while signing, GetSign does that today.

Sending and automations

PDF Docs sends documents and signature requests from your own Gmail, with email templates filled in from the item. Six automation recipes make a PDF, email it, save it to Google Drive, or send a contract for signature when a status changes. GetSign supports status and button triggers, and bulk sending for signatures on its Standard plan and up.
