Hi, I’m Arnav. If you’re on this page choosing between Mirror Item and SIMB, there are plenty of differences between our apps. They’re hard to fit on a marketplace listing, where we have a fixed word limit, so in this guide I’ll walk you through each of them.

Mirror Item vs SIMB at a glance
On the pricing pages, SIMB looks like the cheaper app: $19 a month for 500 items, next to our $37 for 250. But SIMB’s 500 are slots, and it uses one for every board an item is on. Any item you share uses at least 2 slots, so 500 slots hold at most 250 shared items. Put each item on 3 boards and they hold about 166. Mirror Item counts an item once, so our 250 means 250, whether the item is on 2 boards or 20.
The fair way to compare is to start with the items you need to share and see what each app charges for them. With items on 3 boards, our Basic does the job of their Standard, and our Standard does the job of their Pro:

Prices are per month with yearly billing. SIMB’s Basic plan does come out cheaper when your items stay on one or two boards, or for up to 166 items on three. Every plan for both apps is in the pricing table below.
One item on 3 boards: 1 item with us, 3 with SIMB
How an app counts shared items decides how far your plan goes, so this is the difference that shows up on your bill.
SIMB’s counting SIMB counts an item once for every board it’s on. In our testing, one item shared to 3 boards used 3 item slots on SIMB’s plan, as opposed to only one with us. Its pricing page lists each plan as “up to” a number of items, which holds only when each item is on a single board. That defeats the purpose of the app, since you share an item to at least one other board. So a 500-item plan really gives you 250 items between 2 boards, or about 166 between 3.
Only in Mirror Item
Mirror Item’s counting Mirror Item counts a shared item once, however many boards it’s on. One item on 3 boards uses 1 item of your plan, and adding a fourth board changes nothing.

Is our pricing actually a lot more?
No. We don’t double count items, and we don’t use words like “up to” to confuse you. You get what you pay for. If you pay for 500 items, you can share all 500 of them, as many times as you like, across as many boards as you need.

On 3 boards, Mirror Item costs less for 167 to 250 items and for 334 to 1,000 items. SIMB costs less up to 166 items, for 251 to 333 items (Standard at $39 against our $45), and above 1,000 items, within its board limits.
Free plans. SIMB’s has 10 item slots and 3 boards, so sharing 5 items to 2 boards uses all of it. Ours covers 5 items on any number of boards, so you can share those 5 items to 15 boards and test at the scale you’ll actually run.
Boards: no limit with us, 3 to 50 on most SIMB plans
SIMB’s board limits Every SIMB plan except Enterprise caps your boards, on top of its item limit, so you can hit either one first. For example, 80 items on 6 boards uses 480 slots, which fits Basic’s 500, but 6 boards is over Basic’s cap of 5, so you’d need Standard at $39 a month.

Subitems and updates: more options with us
Both apps sync an item’s updates and replies, and its subitems with their columns. They differ in what comes across when you first share an item, and in where a subitem can go.
SIMB’s subitems and updates SIMB can mirror a subitem as an item on another board. It syncs subitem updates posted after you share, but the updates already on a subitem stay behind.
Mirror Item’s subitems and updates When you share an item, Mirror Item brings its existing update thread with it. Synced updates can show the board they came from, and you can keep chosen people’s updates on their own board. With subitems, it goes well past SIMB:

One-way, if you want it. You can switch any board to one-way by turning off its webhooks. It still receives every change from the source, but nothing on it writes back. That suits reporting boards and boards shared with clients. Every other board stays two-way. One-way sync is on every plan, including Free.
Seeing where an item lives: both apps show you
SIMB’s tools SIMB adds an Item Locations column that links to the item on every other board, and a Discrepancy Report for sync problems.
Mirror Item’s tools Mirror Item adds a Mirror Item Location column with the same links, and, on Standard and above, a sync dashboard covering every linked item and board and an event-level audit log of what synced, where and when. Admins can also restrict who opens the app and changes its settings.
Where your data goes: we stay inside monday.com
SIMB’s hosting SIMB runs its own backend. Its marketplace security answers say it is hosted on DigitalOcean in Frankfurt, that item names and synced column values pass through it, and that it stores names, IDs and sync mappings but not column values.

Mirror Item or SIMB: which should you pick?
Both apps keep one item in sync across boards. Here’s when each one is the better pick.
Go with Mirror Item if…
You don’t want your data to leave monday.com. Mirror Item runs entirely on monday Code, monday.com’s own infrastructure, which is SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certified, and GDPR- and HIPAA-compliant. SIMB runs on its own servers.
You want to pay for items, not copies. An item counts once however many boards it’s on, and there’s no board limit. For 250, 500 or 1,000 items on 3 boards, our plans cost less.
You want advanced syncing. Two-way by default, with one-way for any board you choose, on every plan. On Standard and above, you can also mirror items as subitems, subitems as subitems, and keep the same subitem under two parents.
You want a premium interface. A Mirror Item Location column on every board shows where each item lives. On Standard and above, a sync dashboard covers every linked item and board, and an audit log shows what synced, where and when.
