How to export a monday.com board to PDF
By Arnav Ghatage, founder of Fortimus · Updated
Short answer
Open the PDF Docs view on your board, choose Board report under What do you want?, press Choose the columns to pick what goes in, then press Make PDF. You get every item on the board in one PDF, grouped like your board, with status colours.
A board report is what you send when someone outside monday.com asks "where are we?": a client, a board of directors, an auditor. Screenshots get cut off and Excel exports lose the grouping and colours. A PDF report keeps both.
What monday.com does natively
monday.com can export a board to Excel, which is great for data but loses the layout, and you can print a view from your browser, which prints whatever fits on the screen. Neither gives you a tidy, grouped document you can file or send.
Export the board to PDF
- 1Install PDF Docs, Invoices + eSignatures from the monday.com marketplace.
- 2Add the view to your board: click + next to the board's views, choose Apps, then PDF Docs, Invoices + eSignatures.
- 3Connect once: the first time it opens, press Connect to monday and approve. Everyone on your account can then use it.
- 4In Make a document, open What do you want? and choose Board report.
- 5Press Choose the columns and tick the columns the reader needs. Leave out internal ones.
- 6Press Make PDF, then Download, or save it on an item that tracks your reporting.
Tip: Make a separate board view filtered to what the client should see, and keep the report columns client-friendly. Column names print as they are on the board.
What the report includes
- Every item on the board, grouped the same way as your board.
- The columns you chose, printed the way monday.com shows them: status labels, people's names, dates and timelines.
- Status colours, so the reader can see what is done and what is stuck at a glance.
Note: The item list in the app shows the first 100 items on a board.
Want one item instead?
Choose Item summary to put one item, every column and its updates on a single page. Or generate a PDF from a monday.com item with your own template.
Need your own layout?
Build a Word template with your logo and wording, and use a list to repeat a row for each subitem or connected item. See how Word templates work.
Turn your board into a report your client can read.
